Senior Pass Price Increase
The National Park Service in coordination with the other federal recreation providers announced July 10 the implementation of a new America the Beautiful Senior Pass, which was enacted as part of the National Park Service Centennial Act in the 114th Congress.
Beginning August 28, 2017, the price of the Lifetime Senior Pass (currently $10) will increase to $80. A new Annual Senior Pass is also available for $20. Previously purchased lifetime Golden Age or Senior Passes will be honored for the lifetime of the pass holder.
The Rumor currently is that seniors can purchase a yearly pass for $20.00. Then if they continue to use them they can purchase another yearly pass for $20.00 when their previous one expires. If you do this four times (and at the moment keep each expired card) you can trade them in for free for a lifetime Senior Pass.
So for now make sure you keep the expired ones unless the rules change.
